Welcome to Barrow Hills School, an independent, co-educational day school and nursery welcoming girls and boys from 2 to 13 years of age.
Teaching at Barrow Hills is based on the understanding that children vary in academic ability, learn and mature at different rates and discover areas of the curriculum which they enjoy and excel at. The family feel of the School is evident and the children clearly benefit from being members of a small community. Our class sizes allow for more individual attention from staff, who value and understand every child and spend quality time with them to enhance their learning and confidence. The intimate atmosphere is a particular strength of the School and enables us to build warm relationships with our families.
Education at Barrow Hills is for life, not just the classroom and we are committed to being leaders in Prep School education; promoting mutual respect, curiosity of mind and independence of spirit, preparing each child to move on to take their place in an ever changing world. I strongly believe that a happy child is a successful one. Our children are challenged within a positive, diverse community of learners and are stretched at a time appropriate to them, helping them to aspire to achieve their individual best. Balanced with an ethos of strong pastoral care, children become well rounded high achievers.
Our extensive grounds provide excellent facilities that encourage play and exploration. Throughout the School we provide children with an environment in which to experiment and develop their talents. They experience a wide variety of activities in order to develop their abilities without fear of failure.

Pastoral Care
Barrow Hills aspires to educate the whole child. We provide the highest levels of pastoral care, encouraging children to fulfil their aspirations and potential within an atmosphere of mutual respect and compassion. Our staff know the children, their strengths as well as their weaknesses, what makes them ‘tick’ and what makes them happy. Staff give children the time they need to get to know them, they care about their happiness and aim to develop the thoughtful, caring side of their characters as well as their intellect and ambition.
Academic
Our school motto rings true in everything that we do at Barrow Hills. Our broad curriculum offers a wide range of opportunities for our children to develop not only their knowledge and understanding, but also the learning habits needed to set them up for the future. Barrow Hills’ children are independent and resilient. They are inquisitive and confident learners. They problem solve and tackle new learning and experiences with curiosity and bravery.
Co-Curricular
The strong academic curriculum is only part of what makes an education at Barrow Hills so special. There is so much else that goes on beyond the confines of the traditional classroom. Our co-curricular activities play a vital part in developing a variety of attributes in our children, and passions are often discovered that children take with them to their senior school and beyond.
School Fees
2019-20 fees have been held for Autumn Term 2020 and are due to be reviewed in January 2021.
The termly fee ranges are currently as follows:
Reception – £3,500 per term
Years 1-2 – £3,950 per term
Years 3-4 – £4,975 per term
Years 5-6 – £5,250 per term
Years 7-8- £5,325 per term
